Andrew was born in Fort William on the West Coast of Scotland and grew up in Perthshire. Andrew has loved folk tunes for as long as he can remember and played his first solo gig at 17. Influenced mainly by the late Roy Williamson, and Ronnie Brown of The Corries, Andrew plays a variety of traditional battle songs, ballads and funnies. He writes originals in a few musical styles on top of playing traditional songs.

Andrew has worked hard with his music over the past 13 years. This has paid off with gigs in Scotland, San Francisco, New York, Minneapolis, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, South Bend, Collingwood, Sarnia and Toronto.  In March Andrew travelled to Germany to play alongside The Stokes, Trudy McDermott and Fiachra O'Regan.  Further trips to Europe are coming up soon.

In 2001 Andrew recorded his first album Better Late Than Never. Aptly named after taking so long to complete the project. It has taken till 2006 to reach the stage of a second studio Album.  "You don't need a beard" was completed at the end of 2006 and is now available for sale.  Andrew's solo career has been complimented by playing as half of The Mighty Fine Pair (Phil Creswell and Andrew’s folk duo). The band toured in North America, and managed a few dates in Scotland, but the "Pair" have not had much time playing together since 2004. Both  Andrew and "The Pair" combine a sense of humour and fun, but can still belt out heart felt renditions of Scotland's best traditional music.
